Salt & Surf: Following Up

I’ve been thinking about what a slacker I have been when it comes to blogging lately.  But I’m not slacking – I’m promise. It’s just one thing flows into the next, and life gets so busy! Life is good!

I wanted to follow up on a couple things I’ve posted on Twitter or Facebook, that people have asked me about.  I mentioned I was going to try this Himalayan Salt detox. I got it at the Salt Room in Summerlin. It was only 25 dollars, and I was reading about all the benefits.  I figured I would give it a try. A friend of mine wanted me to pick some up for him, so I bought a jar for myself too. You basically fill the jar with water, and you take a teaspoon every morning, before putting anything else in your body. It lasts several months.

I have done it religiously for about 2.5 months now. It is a detox, so keep that in mind. So – I’ll tell you the plus side and negative.

The only negative, I did have some break outs. The face breakouts weren’t severe at all, just here and there, in places I normally don’t break out. That was the toxins leaving my body. That was a downside, because cover up has been my friend lately!

The UP side. I’ve never felt better. I’m happier. In fact, there would be times when I was sitting at work, and I’d feel a ping of happiness. Not that I’m not happy there, but I can’t explain it, it would hit me at that time, I would feel it, and in my head I could almost hear it.  I feel good and I’m happy.”

I also have a more controlled appetite. I don’t snack as much as I used to or even want to snack. If I’m bored, I find something to do, instead of reach for the pita chips and hummus. I have also started to find more passion in things and I stay dedicated to them. For example, I’ve started cooking more, and prioritizing people and things in my life. I exercise regularly. I have always worked out, some times more than others, but now I find that I make time for it regularly, I want to do it, and I push other things aside for it.

Overall, this has been a great experience. It kick-started something inside me, that makes me feel a little bit different. I plan to keep it up.

Which brings me to my next thing. Surfset Las Vegas! My friend Melissa told me about a Living Social Deal for 8 classes at Surfset so I bought it and we started going. I love it. The classes they offer include Balance, Build, Blend, Beach Body and more. It’s done on a surf board that balances on air filled balls, that make it move slightly. Your lunges, leg lifts, sit ups, and arm work, is all done on the surf board. Since it moves slightly, you are always working your core. The classes are great! They are 45 minutes long and super fun.

The results have been amazing. I only go about 3 times a week, and it was just what I needed to tone up a bit and drop a pound or two. I signed up as a regular now! It’s located on West Flamingo near Durango. The instructors are fun and helpful.

If you are bored of your regular exercise routine, this may be something to throw in the mix!
