My Healthy Meal opened in December, and so far so good. Las Vegas wants to eat better! It’s the newest outlet for nutritious food on the run, located in Summerlin. I stopped in to chat with marketing manager Jake Hafen, and check the place out. It’s pretty cool!
At first, I thought it would only offer “plans” – but I learned anyone can stop in and pick up a meal. There are coolers full of all kinds of meals, and tables full of healthy snacks. All the nutrition facts are posted.
My Healthy Meal has also designed 5-day and 30-day challenges. According to Hafen, people that do the 5-day typically lose 2 to 4 pounds. Those that do the 30-day lose 11 to 16 pounds. Here’s the best part. You won’t starve. You get 3 meals a day and two snacks.
Hafen showed me the meals, and let me tell you, they are hearty and a good sized portion. I was shocked. I had some jambalaya for lunch, it was only 301 calories, 4g of fat, 5g of fiber, and 20g of protein. This morning, I had a southwest breakfast (see picture below) that included egg whites, turkey, broccoli, green onion, and pico de gallo! I’m still full at 4 o’clock. Fresh ingredients are used and the meals are gluten free. It’s about the vegetable to carb ratio.
One of the most popular snacks are the peanut butter protein balls. Wow, delicious and filling… and HOLD THE PHONE, I can eat an entire bag throughout the day and this is “okay.”
The food prices are not too bad either. Meals average about $8.95 and snacks about $3.95. Not too bad, considering we could spend that for lunch at Subway.
There is a large variety too. Fish, vegetarian, chicken, pork, sirloin…. you name it. There is definitely a demand for this type of place, especially for those that just don’t have the time to make healthy meals.
If you want to opt for a plan, here are the details:
5 Day Challenge – $199 for large meals, $179 for small meals
30 Day Challenge – $1,050 for large meals, $895 for small meals
You can try it out by yourself or with the help of a nutrition expert. Much more detail is listed on their website. They are expanding soon to Tropicana and Decatur. The Summerlin location is at 10220 West Charleston Blvd.
For now, I just taste tested some of the food, but I’m thinking about doing the 5-day myself. Bathing suit season is just around the corner!
I’ll keep you posted!
