I was so excited to see Olivia Newton-John’s new show at The Flamingo, and it did not disappoint. I’ve been a fan of her music, and of course, her movies… since I was a little kid.
She took the stage looking happy, comfortable, and full of life! Her smile makes you smile. The showroom was packed! I haven’t seen a show this full in a big showroom in a while. The energy made it even more fun. Olivia sounded great. She sang all her hits. Xanandu, Magic, The One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted, and the audience had the chance to sing “Summer Nights” right along with her. Who would have ever thought when I watched GREASE for the 100th time that I would be singing along with the star, Olivia Newton-John, herself!! She did a wonderful medley of her country music as well.
The show moved along and Olivia was fun to watch. Her cover of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” was stunning. I loved watching the video of her career through the years as well. She really did have a full, successful life that we all watched develop through the years.
Olivia had back up singers that often joined her for duets, and a band. It was just enough. The spotlight was on her, and that’s just what we needed. It was so nice to see something fresh and new (yet classic) in Las Vegas!
In the audience on Friday night was her husband John Easterling, song writer John Farrar, actor Joey Lawrence, Glee actress Dot Jones, Marie Osmond, and RuPaul.
Olivia performs at The Flamingo through at least August. It’s a must see show. Get tickets to see “Summer Nights” HERE.
